Hollywood has an annoying habit of casting its men too old and its women too young so I would try to rectify this with the film version of 1666. Like the book, the film would be an ensemble piece and would be cast as follows:

The Earl of Rochester (portrayed by Johnny Depp in The Libertine) was in his late-teens during the mid-1660s so he would need to be played by someone far too young to be on my radar, perhaps a teenage Shia LaBeouf.
