The ten worst dads in books

Fiona Maazel is the author of the novels Last Last Chance and Woke Up Lonely.

For Publishers Weekly, she came up with a list of the ten worst fathers in books, including:
Franklin - A less obvious candidate for Bad Dad status is Franklin in Lionel Shriver’s We Need to Talk About Kevin. He’s not a murderer or a rapist. He doesn’t sell his child. On the contrary, Franklin’s problem is that he indulges his son so much, he cannot see that his son is a monster. He will not discipline him or bother to know him and for these mistakes in parenting, he is punished severely.
Read about another bad dad on the list.

We Need to Talk about Kevin is on John Mullan's list of ten of the best sentences as book titles and Shirley Henderson's six best books list.
