I was glad to see that a few reader-writers shared my high opinion of Roth's Everyman, Updike's Terrorist, McCarthy's The Road, and Peter Carey's Theft. Also, it heartened me to see several recommenders praise Richard Ford's The Lay of the Land since I had been looking forward to it but noticed some diminished enthusiasm for the book recently.
